Geoenvironmental Review, Supplementary Ground Investigation and Continuous Gas Monitoring
Leisure Facility, Derbyshire
Proposed 240+ unit housing development on complex former opencast coal extraction site backfilled with opencast overburden and non-hazardous waste in late 1970s to early 1980s. Geoenvironmental appraisal of multiple phase previous investigations.
Undertook detailed re-appraisal of mining risk from strike lines on abandonment records of worked seam beneath the buried opencast floor. Undertook supplementary ground investigation and continuous gas monitoring along critical pathway of adjacent off-site former opencast and hazardous waste landfill.
Worked closely and collaboratively with local planning authority contaminated land officer. Proved no significant risk to proposed end users and no specific remedial action required by the than conventional engineering mitigation measures.
Installation of Ambisense continuous gas monitoring devices adjacent off-site hazardous waste landfill
