Geoenvironmental review and multi-phase ground investigation
Development Site, Barmby on the Marsh, East Yorkshire
Proposed development of 9 detached houses with private gardens on a former haulage yard with a commercial building, gravel-dressed area and detached residential dwelling. Undertook review of previous desk top study, designed and undertook ground investigation including in-situ geotechnical testing, installation of ground gas and groundwater monitoring wells.
Proved shallow water table and shallow very loose saturated sands over medium strength laminated clays at depth. Undertook window sampling with dynamic probing and cable percussive drilling to obtain deeper geotechnical parameters. Marginal ground which was ultimately considered to be amenable for vibro stone columns supported strip foundations by a specialist ground engineering contractor.
Cable percussive drilling to prove deeper geology and obtain parameters for geotechnical design
